We know that most of you know all about Etsy, but just in case you don't, we want to talk about it for a moment. This is a wonderful site for individual crafters and artists to be able to affordably sell their items.
Last week we helped an artist friend set up a new Etsy shop, Mosaic Nature (she had little internet experience prior to this). It took about an hour to set up and another 20 minutes to load her products. She still has another 10 minutes or so of work, and it will be done. That means that she got a basic store up and running in under 2 hours.
We found the store building system was very easy to use. They have a copy feature which duplicates your item listing. This allows you to simply edit the changes you need to make for the new listing. Picture loading was super fast and image quality was well maintained.
Her 8 listings cost her $1.60 for 4 months. The basic store costs nothing and there are no set up charges. The $1.60 is all it will cost her to list. This is truly affordable for any crafter or artist. When an item sells she will pay Etsy 3.5%.
If you are interested in getting your items on to Etsy here is a link to the page that gives you the steps needed to open your own store: http://www.etsy.com/sell?ref=so_sell Already have a store? Contact us about it or post your store name. We are happy to promote you (at no charge of course).
Not interested in opening a store? You can still enjoy Etsy! Not only is it fun to browse around looking at peoples creations, but there is a Blog and a Community of artists to interact with. http://www.etsy.com/community?ref=so_com
It is worth a minute to explore this unique site!
Note: We were not paid to write this. We just really like this site!
